TFT Trauma Relief Technique

The TFT trauma relief technique is very different. Yes, it looks strange and seems just too simple to be able to do much of anything. And yet, over 30 years of testimony from thousands of people around the world show it to be revolutionary in its ability to help people achieve emotional freedom and peace of mind.

It’s easy to give it a try. For written instructions, click here.

To watch a video demonstration of the technique click here.

If you feel no relief, or only partial relief, after completing the TFT trauma relief technique, do the “collarbone breathing” technique–for written instructions click here and for a video demonstration, click here. Then repeat the TFT trauma technique. If still no relief, please ask questions on this blog. We will answer you as soon as possible. If you’d like a list of TFT practitioners for consultation, click here. Those with the designation “TFT-VT” or “TFT-Adv” can work over the phone.

  1. I just sat on the couch and tried this technique on some old trauma. Happy to say I could feel some big energies being released….Looking forward to seeing how I feel the rest of the day. Thank you!

  2. Hi, I’m a therapist and I just tried your technique and I found it very helpful. It reminds me of EMDR. Thank You!

  3. Thanks for the feedback. Many people who’ve trained in EMDR go on to train in TFT. A couple added benefits to TFT are that there is seldom an abreaction during treatment–and TFT treats more types of problems than does EMDR.

  4. Hi Mary,
As a long time sufferer of anxiety and agoraphobia, would this work for me?

  5. Yes, it can definitely help with agoraphobia and anxiety. Give it a try, thinking of one aspect at a time while doing the technique. Follow the instructions, including for “cb2” (“collarbone breathing”) if necessary. If it doesn’t take the problem entirely away, you could work with a TFT practitioner (see http://www.atft.org/member-directory/ for a list of practitioners). Diagnostically trained practitioners can usually help even when this standardized algorithm does not. Wishing you the best.

  6. Yes, we have had great success using TFT with eating disorders. I recommend reading “Tapping the Healer Within” by Dr. Roger Callahan. Also excellent to read is Dr. Callahan’s most recent book, “Tapping the Body’s Energy Pathways”, which is a collection of stories from people who’ve experienced the tremendous relief TFT has brought the–not just for trauma relief, but for relief from myriad problems and symptoms, physical, emotional, and mental.

  7. Thanks so much for sharing this. I have a friend who’s a therapist who’s had a lot of success treating clients with anxiety disorders with this and EMDR. It’s easy enough for people to do the routine on their own too when they start feeling stressed, anxious, depressed, whatever. Who knows why it works but from what we know, seems that there’s something more than placebo effect. Thanks again!

  8. Yes, TFT is definitely not placebo as it is effective even for people who do NOT think it will work. Also, we can show its unprecedented results using Heart Rate Variability (HRV), which is a placebo-free medical diagnostic tool that measures the variation in the interval between normal-to-normal heart beats and has been shown to be the best predictor of over-all mortality. Thanks for your comment.

  9. Can you please tell me if it matters how fast you breathe during collare bone breathing I saw a woman demo really fast breathing then a man going slow??

  10. You should breathe long enough to get 5-6 taps on the gamut spot in for each breathing position. Does that answer your question?

  11. I have watched your youtube video 100s of times over the last months & it has helped me a lot, almost like magic, so thank you for sharing! I wanted to ask why the same trauma keeps coming up again & again, is there something I can do for that?

  12. I’m very glad you’re receiving such benefit from TFT. I don’t quite understand your question, though. Do I understand correctly that this is a single traumatic event for which you tap? And you experience relief from the tapping, but then the upset about that event returns? If that is the case, either there may be different aspects of the trauma that you need to focus on while tapping–or there is an “independent energy toxin” (IET) that is undoing the treatment. If the latter is the case, you can find out what the IET is, and therefore avoid it, by consulting with someone trained in TFT diagnostics.

  13. Hi Mary,

I looked at a video on PR and it resonates. How can I learn more specifically how to clear it ? I feel blocked as I was once ambitious highly intuitive and regressed, easily stress, and now underachieving. I feel like I sabbotage inspite of my trying hard to overcome deep pain…which has often seemed like it is bottomless.

  14. Hi Monica. That’s a very good question. What you describe does sound like PR (psychological reversal). I recommend you read “Tapping the Healer Within” by Dr. Roger Callahan to learn more about it, as well as how to correct it. It’s available on Amazon or at http://www.rogercallahan.com. If you have any more questions after reading it, let us know. The best to you.
